David and Gracie Gillis were represented by Doug Baumgardner in their zoning request that conservation land in Scrabble be used for a residential care facility. The board expressed concern that the facility would expand beyond the proposed eight beds, though ordinances permit a facility of up to 25 people. After much debate, the Board approved the special ziming exception. : E-911 problems
^ John McCarthy discussed at problem existing with Bell Atlantic services in the county. It was discovered that the company was failing to update their databases with new names, addresses and phone numbers, thus preventing correct information from being made available when an emergency 911 call was placed. Through test calls conducted by building official Richie Burke, it was discovered that, in 80 percent of the situations, Bell Atlantic did not have the correct information 30 to 90 days after phone service had been established. Such a delay could result in life threatening situations. McCarthy added that there had been no problems with similar Sprint service.
