On Dec. 5 at 6:55 p.m. a male subject was seen leaving the old Huntly post office after a complainant informed the sheriff’s office that fires had been started. Two fires were discovered: one in the driveway and the other beside the structure. Both fires measured approximately 10 feet by 10 feet. Damage was not ascertained and the subject was not apprehended.
On Dec. 5 at 12:11 a.m. in Amissville, two vehicles in Hackley’s Country Store parking lot were vandalized. One of the vehicles, a Mazda, had a busted windshield and a damaged bumper. The other vehicle, a Ford truck, had a busted windshield as well. Sheriff Larry Sherertz reported, “This was not a hit an run. There will be an investigation.”
On Dec. 4 at 10:21 p.m. a complainant called to inform she heard glass breaking and witnessed three individuals running from the parking lot of the Sperryville Emporium. Sherertz replied, “We’ve got some juveniles under investigation in this case. They did some damage to lawn ornaments and a sign was damaged.... We have suspects.”
