Volunteers will be scanning the skies, trees, stream banks and farm fields on Sunday, Dec. 19 in search of birds as Shenandoah National Park sponsors its 31st annual bird count. The day-long event will take place within a 15mile diameter circle centered on Hershberger Hill between Luray and Stanley in Page County.
New volunteers are always welcome. Contact count compiler Mara Meisel at 540-9993282 by Dec. 12. There is a $5 per person fee.
