Spande has painted three portrait heads in the realistic but scaled down fashion that he brings to his other work. They give the impression of people he knows and cares about.
A statement accompanying the exhibition reveals that Spande is about to enter the graduate school of the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. The Middle Street Gallery display of his work shows that Thomas Spande has been trained and training himself for many years already. All who know his work will be anticipating what happens to his imagery from further study.
