Operate & maintain highway construction/maintenance equipment & tools to construct, repair & maintain roads & surrounding right of way. Duties: performs physically demanding work & preventive/minor maintenance on equipment. Equipment used: 3 ton dump trucks, mowers, loader, rollers, and hand tools. These positions have been designated as “essential" during emergency operations. Must have demonstrated ability to operate & maintain highway equipment; use hand tools; & perform heavy manual labor. Requires safety shoes, physical exam, & a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Selected candidates subject to pre-employment drug test & DMV driving record review. NOTE: If there are insufficient number of qualified applicants for the Transportation Maintenance Team Member positions, they may be filled as Transportation Equipment Operator Trainees. The Operator Trainee positions have comparable duties & qualifications as stated above. Salary for the Operator Trainee: $15,164-$16,577. Additional positions may be filled from this applicant pool for 90 days after the closing date in Fauquier & Rappahannock counties. SALARY: $16,577-33,811.
