apparently are a fevy Rappnetters who don’t care much for each other.
But I don’t think there are any Rappnetters who don't either love to make opinions, or love to read opinions. Well, maybe a few, but they either hit “delete” or cancel their subscription. Anyhow, it started with a few postings opposing the death penalty for McVeigh, then I broke the unanimity by writing in favor of his execution.
Then the floodgates opened and for three days there was a torrent of fevered debate, passionate, eloquent, mostly reasoned, some well researched, some pious, some pithy, and some outraged. In the course of all this there were scores of postings for all to see and perhaps hundreds of individual communications.
Strangers became correspondents, feelings were hurt, friends were made (and perhaps lost) and though it is unlikely that any minds were changed, some hearts were softened as fiery advocates came to respect their opponents.
I submit to you that nowhere in the nation is there a community that cares as much as ours about the future of the great experiment called America. And I suggest that by old fashioned fellowship, comity, and brotherhood we can continue in the way of the Manahoac, very merry indeed.
