traditional, we don’t so much make period pieces but take ideas from the past and try to incorporate them timelessly.
We use techniques that look historic, but are upgraded with better technology. Instead of a traditional roof overhang that’s not big enough to keep the rain off the building, we increased the overhang so that rain doesn’t get on the siding, which then doesn’t always get wet then dry, wet then dry, rotting it out. Another example of improving on tradition is in the roof. We put steel in the roof overhang, strengthening it tremendously, but we embedded it in such a way that you can’t see the steel without taking apart the building. We try to disguise all our modern techniques, so that hopefully even the skilled craftsman would appreciate our workmanship.
