daughters: Mary tdna Smoot Dennis of Castlelon, Va., Minnie Mildred Riley of Stephson, Va., Peggy Marie Smoot Parmley of Louisiana, Donna Sue Smoot of Washington, Va., and Jo Ann Smoot Kendall of Front Royal, Va. He is survived by 38 grandchildren including two of whom he raised. Johnny Lee Smoot, Jr. and Amanda Nicole Smoot, both at the home; 42 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are one sister, Annie Foster of Warren ton, Va. and four brothers: Clabert Smoot of Washington, Va., Arthur Smoot of Flint Hill, Va., Billy Smoot of Washington, Va. and Bernard Smoot of Mississippi. He was predeceased by his first wife, Cecil Virginia Riley Smoot; five sons: Harvey Thomas Smoot, Jr.. Taylor Wilson Smoot, Sr„ a toddler. Harold Franklin Smoot, and infant twins Ricky Lynn Smoot and Dave Allen Smoot; four brothers: Charlie Smoot. George Smoot, Reuben Smoot, and Herbert Smoot; and three sisters: Sadie Foster, Bea Fletcher, and Carrie Kines. The funeral was conducted Thursday, April 19,2001 at 2 p.m. at Washington Baptist Church in Washington, Va. with Reverend Phillip W. Bailey officiating. Burial followed in Washington Masonic Cemetary in Washington, Va. Pallbearers were Kevin B. Almond. Jeffrey L Butler. Steve Critaer, Robert E. Frye, Clarence E. Giles. Jr., Calvin B. Racer, and Sam Snead. Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal, Va. was in charge of arrangements. The family received friends Wednesday, April 18, 2001 from 7 to 9 p.m. ' Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Rapidan, RO. Box 715, Culpeper, Va. 22071. Flowers were also welcome!
