A native of Virginia whose family ties “to Rappahannock County go back 50 years, he and his wife Barbara have lived in Rappahannock for the past 25 years.
In 1977, they became the second landowners in the county to put their property into a conservation easement. Phil Irwin of Caledonia Farm was the first. Rappahannock is now one of the leaders in the state in terms of acreage that has been placed in a conservation easement.
Dennis’ professional experience includes working at the Department of the Interior under Secretary Morris Udall, and serving as the head of the Piedmont Environment Council for 15 years. He is currently president of the Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance (RCCA).
