We wanted to offer one roof to keep things simple. Copper was sort of a natural choice for its durability. Usually in about sixty days it turns into a nice, deep, dark brown, blackish color, and looks pleasant with the different colored sidings, windows and doors that we offer. Its virtually maintenance free. I also chose copper because we can patina the copper several ways.

I did a lot of research on that, for more than eight months. I’ve been working with a blacksmith down in North Carolina who hand forges most of all the hardware we use, as well as several other sources. I tried about a dozen companies but was only satisfied with three, with high enough quality for us to use- truly hand forged as opposed to sort of partially hand forged, or stamped out machine parts that were worked a little to add character. This is all truly authentic hand forged hardware here.
