Rappahannock Bazaar’s teen club, Club Getaway, held its first event at the Washington Fire Hall last Friday, and it was a great success thanks to the attendance by more than sixty Rappahannock teens, the advance work and preparation by Club Getaway officers and members Jennifer Kendall, Francis Gateway, and Harris Evans, the entertainment by the more than talented open mic participants, and the DJing by the team of Harris, Ellis and Brant.
The event was intended as an introduction to the club and its sponsor, Rappahannock Bazaar, and as a fund raiser for the clubhouse at the former Black Kettle restaurant. It succeeded on both counts.
The event also highlighted the need for teen and other youth events, and confirmed that our Rappahannock kids are responsible and wellbehaved, and deserving of a place that they can gather.
