The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC) has invited Rappahannock resident Bob Dennis to explore the topic of conservation easements at the next Friday at the Library program on May 11 at 8 p.m.
Dennis will draw upon his forty-year history of involvement with conservation easements to present a balanced view of this complex issue, looking at the myths as well as the facts. “I am not going to promote easements,” says Dennis, “but rather to explain how they operate, to answer questions, and to participate in a discussion of the impact they may have on landowners, neighbors and the whole community.”
Conservation easements offer a voluntary approach to the preservation of open spaces and natural resources, issues of particular interest to communities .like ours that lie on the edge of a developing area. Dennis has both personal and professional knowledge of the
