Chairman Mills opened the December meeting by thanking the Board and school administration for its wisdom and support and he expressed his appreciation for this “new family that has adopted me.”
• The Board okayed a resolution to declare the George Washington Carver-Piedmont Technical Education Center facility in Culpeper as surplus. which is a first step in the process of selling off the property that is owned by the counties participating in the program.
• Assistant Superintendent Jack Raines reported on a $100 donation by Melanie Smith to be used for classroom supplies. The Board accepted the donation with gratitude.
• Policy and Legal Committee member Franklin Warner noted that discussion on a new leave policy would be tabled until January. Aline Johnson said that there had been enough discussion on the subject and that the Board needed to act on the policy in January.
