The Junior Panthers - Rapp’s 6th, 7th, and 8th grade team — have already played three games. On Dec. 4, Rapp Junior Panthers fell to Cedar Lee 55-25. Will Norman led the scoring with 10 points and Jacob Dodson had 6. The team had first game jitters, but calmed down and were more competitive in the second half.
The next day, Rapp fell to Warrenton Middle School 5838. Jacob Dodson led the scoring with 11, followed by Timmy Clanagan with 6. The Junior Panthers were simply outhustled. The reserves played very aggressively and received lots of playing time. Timmy played a solid game in the middle.
Friday’s home game was the first victory for the Junior Panthers in an exciting game that went into overtime when Jacob Dodson drew a foul attempting a three pointer at the buzzer. His three foul shots all went in, and the game went into overtime.
The final score of 43-39 left all the Rapp fans smiling. Jacob Dodson led the scoring with 19 points, shooting 15 for 17 at the free throw line. Irving Smith scored 11. “I was disappointed that we gave up the big lead we had early in the game, but I was so proud of the way they came back!” said Coach Mick Strand.
