Everyone deals with grief differently , and this is especially the case with children. With this in mind, parents are encouraged not to project their feelings onto their children. Otherwise they might feel understandably compelled to keep news of the loss from the child or minimize its importance in hopes of protecting their children from the truth. In the final analysis, however, children are going to feel the loss of a grandparent or other loved one and turn to their parents for comfort and understanding. At this point, the parents will be called upon to forge the child's view of life and death. This is an important undertaking that should be addressed in accordance with the child’s capability of understanding.
Children have a particularly hard time dealing with loss, and yet their experience of loss is great.
