This is in response to the proposed
designation of the Hazel River as a Tier III Exceptional Waters River. To say that all the landholders on the river in Rappahannock and Culpeper Counties have been notified, and that the designation will prevent any new point source, sewage treatment plants on the Hazel does not take into account that this designation will not effect only the Hazel, but everyone in the Hazel Watershed.
There are 19 rivers in this Watershed: Blue Run, Carter Run. Conway River, Deep Run, Flat Run, the Hazel. Hughes River, Indian Run, Mine Run, Mountain Run, Muddy Run, Potato Run. Rapidan River, Rappahannock River, Robinson River, Rush River, Thornton River, Thumb Run, and Walsh Run.
Any spring, creek, or any other body of water that eventually or immediately empties into the Hazel will be affected.
People need to take a serious look at what is going on with this seemingly innocuous proposal. What is really behind this is another attempt to deprive landowners of their property, as is happening all over this country, under the guise of “the environment”.
