He trimmed the number of committees from 22 to 14. which reduced subcommittees by nearly 20. For example. last year I served on the both the Agriculture and the Conservation and Natural Resources Committees.

With the dramatic reduction in the number of House committees and subcommittees, we now have set times each week when committees meet. For example, unlike previous years, I now know that my three committees meet at a set time in the morning, one on Monday, another on Wednesday and the third on Friday.
I, therefore, try to schedule meetings with constituents on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, before our House floor sessions.
Previously, all committee meetings were subject to the call of the chairman, often on short notice. Planning appointments in prior legislative years was virtually impossible.
