Mr. Christie stressed that the commission has no authority to mandate the vision that was developed, but it will promulgate it by distributing it to the planning commissions of the regions counties and towns.
Following Mr. Christie's presentation, RLEP members asked questions and engaged in a discussion about the vision and its elements. Hal Hunter asked about the availability and cost of the RRRC's planning staff for local engagements, and Mr. Christie responded that a planner could be made available for short-term engagements at no cost and for longer-term engagements at a negotiated fee or for some grant proceeds at the end of the engagement.
In response to Jim Gannons questions about assistant in grant acquisition, he said that the RRRC would assist localities in obtaining grants.
There was significant discussion about tbe benefit of joint jurisdictional meetings to discuss issues in one locality that impact another (such as prospective Clevenger's Corner development), and Mr. Christie encouraged RLEP to identify such an issue or two and promised that he would then arrange for a meeting of suitable parties from each locality.
