• Volunteers on the Headwaters Mini-Grant Committee recently met to interview teachers who had applied for grants for a variety of programs to benefit our students. Each time the applications are received the committee is amazed by the creativity of the applicants. This time was no exception.
RCES applicants were Joy Rollins. Music; Hairiette Rosenblatt, Art; and Corinne Smith, Special Ed. RCHS applicants were Mary Arthur, Culinary; Amy Hughes, Library; Bill Hunt, Science; Dani Pond, Social Studies; and Laurel Van Horn, English. Winners will be announced in the near future.
This writer is honored to work on the review committee with volunteers Peter Kreyling, Margaret Gottlieb, Tom Taylor and RCHS Business teacher Mick Strand.
• RCHS Students who have been recognized as Rappahannock Scholars were recognized at an assembly at RCHS on Friday, Feb. 15. Plaques were presented to approximately 60 students who had worked to achieve this honor.
Many thanks to our wonderful RCHS Technology teachers who constantly work to support the efforts of our students.
• Is your Middle School child interested in the possibility of playing football? An informational meeting was held at RCHS on Monday, Feb. 18 to discuss the possible options. If you were unable to attend the meeting and would like more information, please call Athletic Director Jon Smythe at 987-8575.
• RCHS Drama teacher Miranda Hope has been conducting auditions for roles in the upcoming production of the classic “Our Town”. Please stay tuned for more information on this sure-to be-wonderful event! You won’t want to miss it.
