Supervisor Ron Frazier of the Jackson District related complaints that he has received about the high costs of administration in the school system, and he expressed his view that the system is "top heavy" and that more money has been spent over the years than is necessary. He referred too to morale problems and asked if all of the administration were necessary and if money "could be better spent in the classroom." Mr. Welch expressed his concern about morale as well, and said that he had received complaints from "teachers who never complain."
Mr. Frazier moved to reduce the School Board's request by $176,232 by function, but there was no second to that motion and the Board acted upon Mr. Lee’s motion to reduce the budget by the same amount, but from the bottom line, giving the School Board the flexibility to adjust downward as they see fit.
