Mary O'Meara's “Untitled (Dogwoods and Redbud)” photograph is a scene of composed. branching, flowering woods with a few green leaves and. far down below, a blue pond - the work of a searching and insightful photographer.
A large oil on canvas of dark mountains, trees and water, painted by Kim Abraham, suggests a clearing storm. An enormous black and gray cloud in moving toward the viewer as if coming off the canvas, while light is beginning to show on the mountain tops. This picture presents a dark and problematic scene that suggests a symbolic intent on the artist’s part.
Ralph Weber’s “Untitled # 2”, a small, colored pencil and white out drawing, is a charmingly composed view of a road side where a simple house, barn and fence stand before fields and a hill. There is enough white to make one surmise a winter scene.
It is a shame not to comment on more of the pictures in this absorbing show that I have visited three times and want to see again.
Many of the pictures are larger than the ones I’ve picked out and seem especially appropriate for a spring collection.
Visitors will be surprised to discover the breadth and depth of the talent brought by artists from surrounding areas into the two rooms of our cooperative gallery.
