Steven Kenny’s “Candle Feet” is a night scene, oil on panel, with a beautiful handmade gold and black frame. The title indicates that he is showing a silhouette of Menefee Mountain’s fringe of trees in front of a yellow sky at the horizon, which is the light made by suburban sprawl that tends to dim the star-filled heavens. His statement seems to be a protest, but the effect is attractive.
Tina Piemilia submitted a small picture called “On My Way” made of dye and silk. In subdued colors that recall an oriental mini-malist painting, we are treated to an almost featureless rolling land through which a path runs. The seeming simplicity of this work attracts attention.
Walter Day has painted a striking water color of an old barn and plants growing at the edge of a pond. He calls it “Reflections”. At first glance this could be mistaken for an oil painting, owing to its details. He has made it for a grandchild of her other grandfather’s place.
