Old Rag parking

Shenandoah National Park Superintendent Doug Morris and Park Ranger Clayton Jordan presented the Board of Supervisors with a proposed plan for a new parking lot and "contact station" at the Weakley Hollow access point to Old Rag, and they asked for the Boards support for the plan. Mr. Clayton explained that the existing 250 car leased parking lot on Route 600 was likely to be lost within the next month or two, and that the proposed plan would replace it with a new lot on an eight acre leased parcel. The new
location would be more convenient to the Old Rag trail and would result in less traffic impact on Old Rag-area residents.
