The U-14 Hornets had a huge game Saturday away from the hive in Madison. It was a team they had played before, but the Madison team was not ready for the surprise the Hornets had for them. As noted by the opposing coach, “Wow! What a dangerous team these guys are.” Clearly, the Hornets were executing their game plan, Speed to the Ball! Possess and pass quicker than quick! Defensively, Tom Pendleton faced over 40 attempts on Goal. The Madison team was only successful 4 times, which is a 50 percent reduction from the prior game. Perhaps more impressive is the fact that the Hornets scored late in the second half on a team that rumor has it, had not been scored on yet this season! Wow! Carlos Flores took a one touch from Chasidy McGlothlin and broke through two Madison defenders, which bothered from behind all the way to the goal. The Shot was a strong looping to the left shot over the Keeper. The Hornets had over nine opportunities, that is real opportunities.
The Hornets played once again with persistence from start to finish and dangerous they were because of their relentless desire to score! While the final outcome was a 4 - 1 loss, it is clear that each Hornet was willing to play hard and not leave any energy untapped. A great job by all!
