Piedmont, Va. - Well, it's a done deal: Our local bank is moving out of town. Not only that, they re gonna create a new strip mall out on the fourlane.
Some of my neighbors up here in the hollow think the townspeople were foolish to let it happen. Buck Jenkins says they should have let the bank put in the extra parking and the drive-up window it wanted, even though no one seems to mind parking on the street and walking into that beautiful, stately old building. Truth be told, there's never a traffic jam in front of the bank, and lots of my neighbors like to stop in and chat with Evelyn and Jackie behind the counter.
Well, that s progress for you! I guess the "powers that be" at headquarters decided that a bank without a drive-up window needs a more modern image. We only got this headache because that region
