How often is there a win-win situation when it comes to needs and services and funding, especially when the needs are local, the services are provided by the state and the funding is federal? Well, Rappahannock’s Department of Social Services has created just that.
The Revenue Maximization program (Rev Max) has at its core the prevention of out-of-home placements, ie. foster care, and gets federal funds to do it.
Rev Max is a project of Virginia’s Department of Social Services (DSS). Rappahannock’s DSS was one of the earliest to see its potential (and endure the stringent and seemingly convoluted requirements) and to participate. Because Rev Max is a state program which is optional, some county social service departments chose not to participate.
