your home to accommodate backpacks, lunches, and supplies for school. This is the unloading zone in the afternoon when they come home, and the loading zone in the morning before they walk out the door. You can use wooden pegs to hang things from, or if you prefer organize your launching pad with big clear plastic storage boxes. Post a reminder checklist for all to see: Backpacks, library books, homework, gym clothes, permission slips, and lunch.

Keep a family calendar. When you receive a schedule of events from anything that a family member participates in fill it in immediately on your calendar! This includes sports schedules, church, school calendars, after school clubs, etc. Also, when you receive and invitation in the mail, act upon it immediately. Check your calendar, see if the date is available, and if you want to attend, RSVP promptly. When you schedule an appointment for doctors, dentists, barbers, etc., check your calendar and write it down right away. Also, try to schedule these appointments for the same day of the week every time.

Incorporating all of these time saving tips into your daily routines will enable you to have stress free and enjoyable days in your home. You will truly be amazed at how much more time you have to spend with your family. Rather than rushing through meals, baths, and bedtime stories, you will have time for fun.

And in case you don’t have any school aged children in your home, please don’t think these routines cannot apply to you. Substitute briefcases for backpacks and try it out!
