NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD AND
PUBLIC HEARING
Issued August 26, 2002
Notice is hereby given in accordance with §2.2-4007 and §62.144.15:01 of the Code of Virginia that the State Water Control Board intends to amend 9 VAC 25-260-5 et seq. Water Quality Standards and must notify localities particularly affected. The Agency has determined that when amendments are specific to locality, then that locality is particularly affected.
ESTIMATED LOCAL IMPACT: The amendments specific to Rappahannock County are deletion of special standard “q" located in section 9 VAC 25-260-310 regarding effluent limits to waste discharges to the Rappahannock River above the proposed dam at Salem Church and additions of natural trout stream designations and revision of stockable trout stream designations in the Rappahannock River Basin found in 9 VAC 25-260-440 section 4 of the proposal approved for public comment by the State Water Control Board on December 12, 2001.
Special standard “q” contains effluent limits for waste discharges to the Rappahannock River above the proposed Salem Church Dam contingent upon congressional authorization for construction of the dam. Deletion of special standard "q" is not expected to have impacts since its congressional authorization for construction of a dam on the Rappahannock River has never been granted and the limits have never become effective.
