Fire-Rescue Department, Loudoun County, Virginia is seeking highly energetic individuals eager to accept the challenges of the 21st Century Fire Service. We are especially seeking experienced Advanced life Su pport Providers to fill these positions. Duties include basic and advanced pre-hospital emergency medical care, fire suppression, heavy tactical rescue, other hazardous duties, harm prevention, life safety inspe ctions and public education. ALS certified providers become eligible for a base pay increase once locally authorized. Housing assistance programs are available to buy or rent in Ixmdoun County. Loudoun is the 2nd fastest growing county in the nation based on population growth (190,903 as of June 2002). Total combined Fire/ EMS/ Non-Emergencv call volume for FY02 was 18,397 of which 60% were EMS incidents, 27% were fire incidents, and 7% non-emergency incidents. An eligibility list for entry level Fire/EMS personnel for various sites will be created. Persons from this list will fill upcoming regular full-time positions available within 2 years from esta blishment of the list. Minimum requirements: any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/ G.E.D.; age 18 at time of hire; and possession of a valid, appropriate driver's license. Siven to those having one or more of the following: National certification in Fire or EMS; EMT-1 1999 or ardiac Technician/ Paramedic with at lease one year experience at that level; Loudoun County volunteer fire and/ or rescue experience. To receive credit for preferences, they must be listed on the application and copies of the certifications must be provided not later than the job fitness test. Selection process: written examination, job fitness test, interview, NCIC criminal and driving record checks, credit check, and medical examination to include substance abuse screening.
