Arbitrary words like good, bad, better, mistake, right and wrong are replaced with words that describe individual differences in a positive way. How many of us say, “I can’t draw,” or relate experiences that froze our enjoyment of drawing at a young age, never to be attempted again?
More than one voice was heard Friday morning saying, “I can’t draw!” By leading the Wakefield teachers in five drawings which they developed individually, using pastel, colored pencils and magic marker, Karen Price taught these adults how to draw. Teachers drew mixed media drawings of a monkey, a Native American Indian maiden, a toucan, and an iris. Music which complemented the subject matter was played softly in the background as the teachers worked/played.
A drawing of a turtle was developed from the beginning by the teachers themselves.
