Advisory. The Teen Council, with Sara Dodd-Henze as Leader, is involved in the creative direction and management of the theatre. The Youth Advisors (ages 11 through 15) work with the younger members.
The Board of Directors deals with the non-profit fiscal management of the theatre. ( The Rainbow Bridge Youth Theatre is continuing to search locally for additional members to the Board.) Additionally, a Resource Council is forming for adults in the community with skills and talents which might help support the Theatre.
The legacy
The Rainbow Bridge Youth Theatre is planning four productions a year, summer camps next year in lighting, acting, costume design, play writing, and stage design and specialized workshops given by professionals during the year.
Julia Baumgardner, 16, wrote that “theatre ... allows me to find a common trait between a character and myself, and through this it helps me to understand others better.”
“Understanding others better” is part of the theme and the work going on now during rehearsals for Legends of the Rainbow Bridge. The cast is exploring legends from other countries and cultures, sifting through them, finding similar threads, and selecting ones that they are especially drawn to. From those legends they will create their own story and perhaps the start of a legacy.
