In Rappahannock County, there’s a group of folks who are really special. Well, there are lots of special people in our county, but these are the best of the best. They are the Rappahannock Seniors.
One can find them in town, out of town, down each hollow, and in all the nooks and crannies around Rappahannock.
A group of them meets together Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the old Agricultural Building (next to the Old Schoolhouse) in Washington. And what fun they have! They get a hot meal prepared in a central kitchen in Culpeper, and everyone
fitches in a donation towards he food.
Sometimes speakers come and share their areas of expertise about different pertinent medical issues. Other times, they sing, laugh, and have a good time. Crafts, bingo, games, and other activities also fill their days. Every so often they go on day trips— train rides, boat rides, tours, the theater, and out to eat.
They are receiving the services of Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services Board (RRCSB). They are the seniors of the Rappahannock Senior Nutrition Site and are always doing something.
