• The Boys Soccer
team won their game
against Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock last week. Exciting plays resulted in a grand finish with WCDS victorious. Okan Camci scored two goals, a first for the Turkish native, and he was all smiles for the rest of the night. That same day, the Middle-School Boys Soccer team lost a heavily contested game played on WCDS turf against Quantico. Inside, the JV Volleyball team narrowly lost to Quantico, and then the Varsity Volleyball team won. All of the games were neck-and-neck, and the fans on both sides were hoarse from screaming. The teams for both schools were so evenly matched that the games were barely a point apart all the way through.
According to the Delaney Athletic Conference rules, volleyball is played the best three out of five, so the games were back-to-back. It was very emotionally draining, but it was so much fun, that if you missed it, you missed a great evening.. We’d like to send out thanks to the team members of the Quantico teams: we really enjoyed it! Great games!
• Mrs. Marsha Dowell, college counselor at WCDS, and Mr. Michael Vargo, headmaster at WCDS, attended a daylong seminar in Charlottesville last week. The seminar dealt with questions colleges ask of students, and what colleges are looking for in the application process. Students at Wakefield Country Day School spend time with Mrs. Dowell each week, during this time of year, getting applications ready and work
