Mr. Bywaters said when he first took the office the minister was paid only once every three months, on communion Sunday and there was only one service each month. The minister also held the pastorate of four churches in the county. Now the pastor is paid each week, the sexton and organist, once each month and the salary scale is quite improved.
Lindsay Willoughby-Green Eastham has been cited for top academic achievement at Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, following the completion of the first grading period for the current session. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Eastham of Ben Venue, compiled at 3.2 gradepoint average on a 4.00 system. He is a freshman at Randolph-Macon.
