That is why, if you have succumbed to the charms of a nursery plant with large, lush foliage, turned it out from its pot and discovered meager roots, then have the plant struggle or fail to survive, you may understand the importance of a healthy root system.
It is said the roots determine the nature of a plant. After all, the nether parts of a plant do most of the feeding, drinking, hormone regulating and soil managing which are necessary for growth, leaf and bloom shape and color, and in the case of vegetables, flavor.
