cut Kizos work is no technical exercise. His time in Virginia has been spent interpreting and presenting. Art is not entertainment. And while Rizos’ work includes what might be termed “nice” or “pretty” pictures, that is not what they are. Rizos sifts the significant from distraction, casts nets that span unconscious realms, and presents the results to us in landscape, water and bird metaphors.
I had the good fortune to meet Neil just as he came to Virginia; his work changed my life. Come and see it, but watch out — you may never be the same.
Rizos’ show, 10 Years Now, A Decade of Discovery will hang through Dec. 15. He will also be giving a printmaking demonstration on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 12-5, and everyone is invited.
