Linking art, animals and community is the theme of Wakefield Country Day School’s “For The Love of Animals”, a two-day event taking place on Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14.
In addition to the goal of raising money for the school, this is also intended as a celebration of art and artists and to honor the presence of animals in the world. The vehicle for this idea is a show and sale of artworks by Wakefield students and local, professional artists, all depicting beasties, both wild and domestic.
Conception of the appealing fundraiser is credited to Kathy Tredway, animal lover and patron of the arts. Mrs. Tredway was inspired by WCDS students’ achievements in art since the implementation of Monart art education, made possible by Tredway’s generous funding, which trained 30 Wakefield teachers in the method.
