All of this could explain, among other things, why there are so few country songs about falling in love (“Timber! Fm firilin’ in love!”) and so many about falling out (“Her cheatin’ heart made a drunken fool out of me," and “1 liked you better before I knew you so well,” and that all-time favorite “Billy broke my heart at Walgreens and I cried all the way to Sears”).
Despite the quirkiness of the love molecule, though, we all know that romance, long-term bonding and marital fidelity are not only possible but common in human relationships. How to achieve this? Maybe ravens have discovered an answer. OK, so we can’t fly wing to wing to reaffirm our love and devotion to each other, but there are other ways.
There’s always preening, rubbing bills and cooing sweet nothings.
