Water Street and we, like many others, are working to keep Sperryville a viable village center. Do we not want businesses to succeed, rather than opening and closing serially? Do we not want to increase our tax base from tourism, as stated in the Comprehensive Plan? Remember when Maurice CBannon’s Sperryville Emporium at The School House and Faith Mountain brought hundreds of visitors ; here. We were all delighted with their success and the income it brought into the county.
The reality is that we need to find creative ways to support the many little businesses on ■ which people depend to maketheir living. We want to find . ways to keep our young people working here. There are many efforts, such as Headwaters . programs, to achieve that goal.
As the operator of a weekend/holiday rental house for ! tourists in the village of Sperryville, I am keenly interested in how tourism policy supports all of us.. ."come here’s and been here’s” alike. We are all one community.
