Loudoun County s Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill this vacancy within the Public Works Division. The successful candidate will perform general public works construction and maintenance: stormwater system inspections & maintenance; landscape/grounds maintenance; and operate and maintain machinery, heavy construction & farm equipment, and vehicles. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation supplemented by some specialized training in Public Works infrastructure construction and maintenance, and landscaping/grounds maintenance; and at least 2 years experience in Public Works maintenance, grounds maintenance, heavy equipment operation, or related field. Valid driver's license. Forklift license, work zone traffic safety and flagging certification is required or must be able to obtain within 90 days of employment. Must be able to lift 70 lbs. Subject to recall or being held beyond scheduled workday; must be available to respond to snow removal operations and/or County emergencies. Responsibilities of this position Include managing the collection and reporting of performance data; evaluating agency reports to determine relevance and the need for further study; researching and evaluating Information to support recommendations for new projects; providing outreach to mandated grant oversight committees; managing various grants for the department to include preparing and submitting new and renewal applications for both federal and state grants; preparing monthly, quarterly and/or yearly progress reports for several agency grants and performing other duties as assigned. Requires the ability to read and understand detailed Instruction clearly and accurately. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelors degree in Human Services, Finance, Accounting, Business or Public Administration or related field. Two years of experience working with data collection, database systems and grant reporting. Prefer ability to use Excel, Access, Crystal reports.
