February 12: Softball sign ups!
Piedmont Softball Association will be conducting spring program registrations for all interested girls residing in Rappahannock, Culpeper, and Fauquier counties from 1pm - 3 pm each Sunday, February 12, at Bill Payne Auction Gallery on Rt. 211 in Amissville.
Girls between the ages of five and eighteen years (as of January 1, 2006) and ALL levels of skill are welcome; girls new to Piedmont must present their original birth certificate at the time of registration. Sign-up fees are $40. for girls registering to play ages 5 through 12 and $45. for girls to playing 13-18; multiple registrants from the same household will receive discounts. Inability to pay fee will not prevent any girl from registering, however. Piedmont Softball Association is a Babe Ruth Softball affiliate and provides regular spring and fall season schedules within its own league, as well as with any other interested leagues. For interested spring players, there is also an All-Star tournament trail for all age teams, as well as World Series for some age levels. February 12: Sufi Dancing
Sufi Dancing returns to its home at Hearthstone School, 11576 Lee Highway, Sperryville on Sunday, Feb. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. Join us for spiritual folk dancing from many traditions. Ki Theatre will hold auditions on Sunday, February 12 and Saturday, February 18 from 2 - 4 p.m. for its annual production of Stories Run Through Us. “Stories” features original one-act plays by local writers. This year’s production, scheduled for April 28 and 29, has roles for kids aged 9 to 13 and adults of all ages. Some roles are non-speaking, but still important. Rehearsals will begin Saturday, February 25. Auditions will be held at Ki Theatre, 310 Gay Street in Washington. For additional information, please call Patty Hardee at 540-675-2506.
February 13: Chess anyone?
Beginning in February, every Monday night at Griffin Tavern in Flint Hill - will be Chess League Night. Come to the pub from 7-9 p.m., sign up with Chess Master John Maxwell (author of the chess book Blitz Theory) and battle your opponent on our beautifully designed chess tables courtesy of Richard Olah.
