Fire department
awards banquet
The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department hosted their awards banquet this past Saturday evening and well, so many folks showed up they had to send out for more chairs and tables! I believe the official count was right at 71 people in attendance and no you do not have to count me twice, do you Wayne. Seriously it was a very nice meal with a fine variety of dishes to choose from and, yes Connie, next year there will be some turkey. I promise!
Everyone seemed to have a great time and really eryoyed themselves and it made me proud to have everyone come together to celebrate.
Several folks were recognized for their achievements including: Firefighter of the year went to Asst. Chief Lee Gibson, E.M.S. Responder of the year went to Tabetha Swain, Most Supportive Member went to Jeremy Stonebreaker, Most Supportive Community Member award went to the Chester Gap Grocery, and last but certainly not least is young James A. Williams III who took home not only Junior Firefighter of the year but also Junior E.M.S. Responder of the year as well! Please join myself as well as the Chester Gap Vol. Fire and Rescue Department in congratulating all of our 2005 award winners. Oh and while I do appreciate all of the requests to sing, well there was at least one, thanks honey, I just didn’t feel that I was up to the challenge what with this frog in rqy throat and all.
