Just six months ago be bragged that, “until two or three years ago, I never dated a woman older than 27.” No one in the room had any reason to doubt his word. None of Ins friends could ever remember Tbmmi looking young and we could never remember him acting otherwise. From the time I met him until the day before he died, he was always the same. Tbmmi picked a mean guitar but would never admit to anyone that he was a good musician. That was the kind of modest man he was. He •played with some of the best musicians around and they all respected both the man and his ability. He could tell some great stories about raucous barrooms and wild Saturday night dances. Most of his customers never knew it, but for several years Tbmmi packed jup after work and drove to Williamsburg to play with the Virginia Opry several nights a Week. His band played parties all over Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia and one of his biggest fans was President Jimmy Carter, for whom Tbmmi performed a number of times. Carter never failed to send Tbmmi a Christmas card each year, which, with a little prodding, .Reynolds would proudly show you.
