kid vacationing with my family in the Adirondack Mountains. In 1987,1 came here regularly with the purchase of my first property, with a substandard shack, up the gravel road across from the Teepee Restaurant (now gone). I came here even more often after I bought a house on the same road, but with indoor plumbing and heat. I moved here when I retired in 1998. I commuted to Fairfax doing part-time consulting work for 6 years. Now, with the purchase of property on Water Street in Sperryville, where I operate two part-time businesses (with valid special use permits), I am here full time! I am one of those people, so often maligned, who came here, as a tourist and then moved here. I am here because I love not only the mountains, but also the community of people who are here.. both the “locals” and the “come here’s”. My husband and I want to be contributing members of the community. Ray Boc, also a tourist in the 80s, came here to marry me a few years ago. He is now with both the Sperryville Rescue Squad and the Democratic committee.
