Rappahannock Board of Supervisors approved the application of Blue Rock Inn owner Gary Harvey for a second residence on the property.
The application had been recommended for approval by the County Planning Commission, but concerns had been reused about Harvey’s future plans for the proposed residence.
According to Harvey, the second house is intended to be a home for former Blue Rock owner Jo Mariea, part of the purchase price for the Blue Rock Inn. However, Harvey also owns a 10,000 sq. ft. home called Greystone Manor near the Blue Rock, which he has purportedly used to house guests in violation of Rappahannock County zoning laws. Harvey has indicated that he would like to convert the home into a legal lodging facility, and would eventually do the same with the proposed second residence.
“I have lots of plans. I don’t always know which one is going to work out,” said Harvey, after the meeting.
Harvey’s neighbor Pat Choate seconded the board’s concerns at the meeting.
