with her 11-year-old daughter Griff, played by talented newcomer Becca Gardner, Jean and Griff are two bruised souls. Jean leaves behind one more abusive boyfriend and Griff, who is terribly lonely, is tired of putting up with her mother’s string of bad relationships.
Although Einar thinks he hates Jean, blaming her for his son’s death, this newly formed family begins to slowly and tentatively establish bonds, particularly between young Griff, her gruff granddad and his friend whom, in the picture’s funniest scene, she assumes is his gay lover. Einar evenT
