Shelly and Greg Dodson are advocates.
Their only child, Sidney, was bom with cerebral palsy and their lives both as individuals and as a family have been down a path many would not walk.
Sidney will be 7-years-old in May and for all of those years, her parents have focused on only one thing - that Sidney have as close to a normal life as possible.
For Sidney, that could be feeding herself, going to the bathroom, holding objects, sitting upright and for brief periods - perhaps even riding a bicycle.
Recently Sidney and her parents spent time in Georgia at Sunshine Therapy where Sidney got plenty of one-on-one attention that included a bicycle ride.
“We believe in her,” said Greg Dodson who is on the verge of selling their family home.
“We’re planning to move onto this farm where we’ll be able to provide for Sidney and still have a place to live,” added Dodson who is totally focused on his “little girl.”
“She’s mainstreamed,” smiled an ebullient Shelly Dodson who said that Sidney attends the first grade at Rappahannock
