Next year’s regional contest will be at the same school, but all 200 plus students attending will be presided over by Joe Vickers as he took the office of Northern Region President. He looks forward to this challenge without any thought of his being only a high school freshman. On the bus trip back, he was already developing ideas on how he could perform his new duties and still win contests. His good friend, Tyler Crews, will accompany him on the center stage since he became next year’s Northern Region Parliamentarian.
According to Meagan Smith, “TSA competition is more than contests. I enjoy the work of getting ready in learning new things. I also like the trip to other schools and meeting people. Being on a sports team and other school activities make time management tight but it can be done!”
Vickers summed up his role as providing opportunity for these students.
“It would be great if more and more young people would make the commitment to get involved. I believe these trips teach things that just cannot be modeled inside a classroom.”
