At almost 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning, the Thornton River Grill hosted an unexpected customer, allegedly a 1990 Mazda Protege belonging toLawrence Nash of Sperryville. Nash’s vehicle was driving through Sperryville on 522 when Nash, 35, allegedly ran off the right side of the road and collided with the front of the Thornton River Grill, which was closed. Nash went home, and Grille owner Andy Thompson and the Virginia State Police were informed of the accident the next day. Trooper KerriAnne Corbett charged Nash with Reckless Driving. Thompson estimates the damage to the Grille at “no more than $1,500.” The damage to the building did not effect the operation of the restaurant.
