The soil had few areas with adequate space to sustain the flow of waste water from the town and all drain fields will ultimately fail, usually in 15 to 30 years.
The question of purity requirements depends on the decisions of the Dept, of Environmental Quality (DEQ). The Town of Washington desires to discharge treated waste water of the highest level of purity or at the “Limits of Technology” (LOT). We understand that this will result in a lower level of pollution than the Rush River now contains and will be a higher standard then is required for the Sperryville system.
